While vacationing on Lake Michigan, a little red-headed girl spotted a man with a guitar playing alone at a pizza joint. Without hesitation, the strong-willed child grabbed her mother’s hand and asked if she could join the man. Not taking “no” for an answer, Morgan Bracy made her debut at three years old in a crowded pizza pub, stealing the show. I didn’t want him to be the only one up there!” Morgan recounts with a laugh.
Such an event marked the beginnings of her journey…
Listening to her father's bluesy voice and impromptu lyrics, and admiring her older cousin who found success on the Billboard Charts 5 times, an early musical interest began in Morgan Bracy. She left her hometown of Cleveland, Tennessee, to attend MTSU in Murfreesboro, TN. There, she studied vocal performance and recording industry on scholarship. By exclusive invitation, she lent her voice to the elite classical ensemble, Schola Cantorum, (led by Raphael Bundage) and the eight-voiced jazz ensemble, the MTSU Singers. She also participated in many recording projects, engineered by students and engineering professors.
Springing from a songwriting partnership that began in college with friend, Jeff Lockerman, there came writing accolades. In 2000, Morgan was a finalist in Ed McMahons Next Big Star National Online Competition, Inspirational Music. In 2002, the writing duo was a finalist in Embassy Music’s 7th Annual Songwriter Competition. The duo's independent music video, "Lift", won a spot on Interlinc's nationally-distributed youth DVD, making Morgan the only independent artist selected. And in 2004, their song, "You Don't Love Me" won first place - chosen from 33,000 entries - for Best Original Song at the USA World Showcase. There, Morgan performed for a national audience on PAX TV. In 2006, Morgan was chosen as a finalist in the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival in Texas, joining the ranks of past finalists Lyle Lovett, Nanci Griffith, and Lucinda Williams, among others.
With influences that range from Tracy Chapman to Mindy Smith, from Leigh Nash to Eva Cassidy, from Joni Mitchell to Karin Bergquist, Morgan's voice is unmistakably distinct with its home grown, rootsy nuances and its beautiful simplicity.
.
When asked about who she is, Morgan simply replies, “I’m just a regular girl who’s been through some tough times. Still, I’m determined to make the most of them and use my experiences for the best. If you’re in the audience or listening to the album, you’re going to get honesty, plain and simple.”
The new full-length release, DIRTY LAUNDRY, showcases the “folk/rock with a twinge of soulful country” that defines the native Tennessean. The album takes the listener on a journey from down-in-the-dumps sadness to mature hope as the lyrics and melody paint a beautifully expressive portrait of vulnerability and strength. DIRTY LAUNDRY is available on CDBABY and iTunes.

Ive just pressed play and am listening to your material. The recording is great, volume levels spot on. Your voice is really nice, and the lyrics work well. 10/10 for this first track. Nice b section to, timming is tight, next track has started, nice guitar, simple and it works well, your voice is again enchanting, pitch is real good. Nice song and nice lyrics.

I wish you the very best, you material is good and your voice is really pure, good luck.
Diggin' your bio, "I would want to be 7 years old again, swinging on the red hammock in my back yard singing to the trees - my captive audience." Nice...
